Airbus A320 Captain – Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Valid and unrestricted ATPL issued or recognized by an ICAO Contracting State, with a current A320 Family Type Rating (A318/A319/A320/A321)
- Valid ICAO Class 1 Medical Certificate
- Minimum ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 4
- Minimum 3,500 hours total flight time
- Minimum 1,500 hours as Commander (Captain/PIC – left seat only)
- Relevant command experience on the A320 Family is strongly preferred and must be clearly stated in the application
- Cruise Captain time is not accepted toward the required command experience
- PIC time logged while operating as First Officer is not accepted toward the required command experience
- Relevant flight experience on aircraft with MTOW of 60 tonnes or above, or equivalent experience subject to operational assessment
- Must have operated as Commander within the last 12–18 months, with a minimum of 200 flight hours as Commander during the applicable recency period, subject to operational assessment
- No accident, serious incident, or significant safety event in which the pilot was determined by the competent authority or official investigation to have been at fault
- No licence suspension, revocation, or enforcement history that may affect eligibility for employment or licence validation
- No history of alcohol or substance misuse, as confirmed by the relevant Civil Aviation Authority
- Satisfactory professional, employment, training and safety record
- Must be able to provide verifiable flight experience, logbook records and employment history
- Must meet all applicable requirements for SCAA licence validation/recognition
- Must successfully complete the applicable selection process, including document screening, interview, simulator assessment, medical and background/security checks
- Willing and able to operate from Baku (GYD) in accordance with the applicable employment and roster conditions
- Maximum age: 60 years
Note: The Medical Certificate and English Language Proficiency Certificate may be expired at the initial application/submission stage. However, candidates who successfully progress in the selection process must ensure that both certificates are renewed and valid prior to the simulator assessment.
Preferred Qualifications
The following will be considered an advantage:
- Strong and recent A320 Family command experience
- Significant command experience in international airline operations
- Experience working in a multicultural and international operating environment
Required Documents for Application
To ensure proper assessment of eligibility, candidates are requested to attach clear and legible copies of the following documents at the time of submission:
- Updated CV/Resume, including complete employment history and aircraft experience
- Valid passport – bio/data page
- ATPL – all relevant pages
- A320 Family Type Rating evidence, if not clearly reflected on the licence
- ICAO Class 1 Medical Certificate
- ICAO English Language Proficiency Certificate
- Latest LPC/OPC or equivalent proficiency check documentation
- Command Course Certificate or other acceptable evidence of successful command upgrade
- Last three pages of the pilot logbook, including the page showing the most recent flight
- Flight Hours / Experience Summary, clearly showing:
- Total flight hours
- Total Commander/PIC hours
- A320 Family total hours
- A320 Family Commander hours
- Commander hours during the last 12 and 18 months
- Date of last flight as Commander
- Aircraft types previously operated
- Copies of relevant training/check records, where applicable
- Employment/reference documents confirming command experience, if requested
- Copies of TRI/TRE/LTC certificates, if applicable
