The Role
We are currently recruiting for a highly experienced and motivated Chief Flying Instructor (CFI) to lead and manage our Approved Training Organisation (ATO). The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional instructional expertise, a strong commitment to safety, and the leadership skills necessary to ensure the highest standards of flight training within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Training Quality & Standards
- Ensure the quality and standard of all training delivered within the ATO, reporting directly to the HOTAS.
- Delegate standardisation and supervision tasks to flight instructors as appropriate.
- Uphold the highest standards of safety in all training operations.
Regulatory Compliance
- Maintain personal licence, rating, and medical currency to conduct assigned duties.
- Ensure all approvals granted by the Authority are valid before conducting training.
- Update course syllabi to maintain compliance with Part-FCL requirements.
Training Operations & Staff Management
- Facilitate airborne training and oversee rostering of CRI’s, and CRE’s.
- Monitor and enforce SOPs, recommending revisions to the HOTAS and the Fleet Captain where appropriate.
- Oversee discipline and administration of the Flight Training Department.
- Provide supervision and standardisation for all CRI’s and CRE’s.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion and secure storage of all training records.
Liaison & Coordination
- Coordinate flight training regarding course planning and development.
- Liaise with the AOC CMM on matters related to the Compliance Plan.
Experience / skills / qualifications
- Minimum 1000 hours PIC
- Minimum 500 hours instructional experience related to courses provided
- Up to 200 hours may be instrument ground time
- Valid licences, ratings, and medical certification appropriate for the role
- Demonstrated knowledge of Part-FCL and UK CAA regulatory requirements
- Experience with simulator training and recurrent training programmes (desirable)
